Happy Australia Day

For yesterday!!

We had a lovely day yesterday. It was my mum's birthday and we went out to a local hotel for a yummy lunch. Mum always says how nice it is that she's been given a public holiday for her birthday and how she appreciates people all over the country who go out and celebrate on her behalf!!! Maybe then my title today should have been Happy mum's birthday Day - doesn't have the same ring to it really!!

I don't have a photo from yesterday as I forgot my camera so I've popped this LO on instead. Its one I did for my mum for Christmas. Its her and my sister taken last year.
Happy Birthday Mum

I'm not sure how they got in

but sometime between leaving my lovely clean house at 3pm and coming home at 11pm a large gang of hoons and 1500 of their mates have had a party and left my once neat, clean house looking like a bomb's hit it. That must be what has happened because it certainly wasn't any of the 3 people who were here this evening.....according to them anyway!.

I've been busy

at work and haven't had a chance to do much at all this week - gotta hate shift work!!

No creating this week so thought I'd post some photos that have been taken recently on our different trips and days out

This is a place called Wild Dog Hill which is about 20 minutes from where we live. Is a beautiful place and we spend lots of time there walking on the tracks and taking photos. The boys like to climb it but I have no photos of that as I can't watch!!!

This photo was taken at a winery in Pt Lincoln. I love the beautiful colours of the leaves.

These shots were some that we took during our Christmas break. They are from the Mount Lofty Botanic Garedens in the Adelaide hills.

Now just in case you think we look like the normal everyday family I thought I'd post these to shatter that illusion!!!!!

Hopefully I'll be back with some new creations once my shifts are over - thanks for visiting!

I've been busy

creating these....
This one is still in need of some journalling but I'm lookingm for the right quote to use

This is one I did of my niece. Not too sure if I like it or not, something a bit different for me but I do like the fact that I did a LO for a girl without using 'girlie' colours

This one was done for a challenge at Debs but I didn't get it done in time to submitted it (oops!!!!). The colours look much brighter in real life. Its of Tim and I taken a year or so ago at a friends birthday.

I have crazy kids

...especially Tennyson who is really just starting to find his own wacky sense of humour!

We spent an afternoon out driving last weekend and Tim pulled into the service station at one point for fuel so while I was waiting I decided to have a play around with the camera to see if I could get any half decent shots of myself to use as avatars etc. I just sort of snapped away without taking too much noice of what they turned out like as I knew I could delete some, or all as is usually the case when I get photo's of myself, of the pictures later(you've got to love digital cameras!). The sun was shininh through the window and it was pretty hard to see the screen to see if they had worked out or not.

I didn't manage to sit down with the camera until the next day and this is what I discovered when I did

What a crack up - I had no idea he was making those faces and poses behind me as I'm trying to smile for the camera! I keep giggling at the one with the big cheesy grin - see what a kid can do with just a cap and a dog as props!!!
The kids a nutter!

Look what I got.....

in the mail the other day!

and

These came from the lovely Amanda who I participated in a photo swap with over at Deb's (check it out if you haven't before http://www.debscreations.net.au/forum/)

I love the way she has managed to capture both the boys personalitites exactly.

The boys love them too especially Tennyson who keeps coming back to the table where they are laying for another look. He said to me earlier "how does that lady know I love to read?" I should have said 'because I sent her an email telling her what you guys like to do' but instead I told him she was psychic......was that wrong?????

The $11.95 box of Coco Pops!!

Well Strawberry Pops to be exact....actually imported South African Strawberry Pops to be even more exact!

I was conned! A new store has recently opened here, which sells imported items from the US, Britain and a few other places, and Josh talked me into going with him to have a look inside as saw some drinks he wanted to try. He had spotted some cans of Dr Pepper, Grape flavoured lemonade etc. that he was keen to try as well as some other products that he had seen on TV but had never tried (not that I minded too much as they sell Hersheys Peanut Butter Cups which are my faves - Mmmmmm!!!).

Anyway to cut a long story short I was feeling generous and allowed him to choose a few things to bring home and try and these Strawberry Pops were one of the things he wanted to try. I didn't look at the price tag and didn't reallt think too much of it when the lady told me the total price as I assumed being imported items that they would be a little more expensive than normal. It wasn't till we got home that I took a closer lok at the box and almost choked when I saw the little yellow tag with $11.95 stuck to the side!

To make matters worse once the boys had a bowl each they decided that they weren't that nice and didn't want to eat any more of them so for the last 4 weeks I have been eating bowls of these things because there was no way I was going to be throwing them away after thay had cost me so much in the first place. I finally finished the last of them on the weekend and let me tell you I never want to see another pink oven toasted grain of rice!

Have I learnt a lesson from this? Yes, never trust your children!

Who are the kids really?

Josh and Tenn both received supersoakers for Christmas this (that should be last) year. The thinking behind that was that in the warmer weather they could both go outside and play together.

These photos were taken Christmas day and as you can see neither Josh or Tenn are playing with their new toys. Somehow they fell into the hands of Tim and my dad and it was on - look out anyone who got in their way!!

These photos are some of my favourite's taken recently - not because they are brilliant photo's but because they two of them are having fun together.

Dad has been a bit down recenlty dut to some major upheavals at his work place and it was so good to see him smiling and laughing. Tim had been working extra hard in the lead up to Christmas -putting in 12+ hour days and it was nice to see him relaxing and having fun too. Most of all I'm happy to have photo's of two of the most special men in my life happy, smiling and getting along so well together!

Just goes to show that boys will be boys no matter what their ages!!!

Hello

Well after feeling that I was probably the only person left in the world without a blog I decided to give it a whirl. I figured why not - a new year, a new blog!

I plan for this space to be one that can be accessed by family and friends to keep updated on what the four of us are up to. Probably nothing very exciting most of the time I imagine but we're here none the less. I envisage lots of various photo's and info -scrapping and kids from me and birds (the feathered variety) and music from Tims. As well as all sorts of crazy stuff about/from the kids.

Basically we're a strange bunch but we love each other and (usually) have lots of fun and crazy adventures. If this doesn't sound like your kind of blog feel free to leave now. Please don't expect too much from me as this is a work in progress and might take me a while to get the hang of.

Till next time
Kylie
